Glatt has the distinction of being a pioneer in fluidized-bed systems since Werner Glatt, the group's founder, built the very first one in 1959. It was a market leader then and continues to lead today bearing testimony to the fact that the group has expanded to more than 20 companies spread over Germany, Switzerland, United States, France, England, Spain and Denmark.

The group now employs more than 1,000 people, besides having alliances with several agents all over the world. The group is also a prominent manufacturer of processing machinery for the pharmaceutical, chemical and agrochemical industries; for food and feed companies and for ceramics production and sinter technology. It also offers a large spectrum of services including laboratory services, training, customer trials and turn-key engineering of entire plants.
